Walking to Goat Camp

"Hello" Photo by: Paula K Rudd

My story begins at a ranch, off highway one just north of Santa Barbara, California. I am starting my day off walking through the hills along the coast. I have to walk a mile or so to reach the goat camp where my dear friend Diana is spending her time.

I am full of wishes, all kinds of wishes. I wish I could go to Santa Barbara, I wish I didn’t want to go. I wish I lived there and only visited here. I wish I could let all of my past go, completely let it go, and have no attachment to it.

A cappella

My a cappella singing really started when a dear friend asked me to sing at her wedding. At the time we were both living in Santa Barbara, but I was moving to New York City, and the wedding was going to be in South Carolina.

I Wanna Be Bobby’s Girl

My dad said I sang for the first time at nine months old. I remember at about 1 and 1/2 being in a little dog costume, and singing “How Much is That Doggie in the Window” with a bunch of other toddlers.

Voice

Writing Voice, NYC 2007

I look at this as a place to speak. Use voice to claim my space. I’ve always sang, my voice is loud, commanding, also beautiful, soulful, rich and deeply sincere. This is true of my mind, heart and opinions.
